Ordinary Time is the season of the Christian calendar between Pentecost and Advent. It is a time when the Church is called to live out our everyday lives and vocations steeped in the reality of Christ’s resurrection.

Since becoming a mother, God has met me in the daily work of caring for children and being at home, transforming the simple, everyday tasks into holy and sacred work. I found such rest when I realized God was in all of the ordinary places I find myself.

The print is of my little family in the garden. My oldest daughter is reading, I’m tending to my littles, and my husband is gardening behind us. I am the primary gardener in our family, but I see my husband’s constant service and work for our family as such a tender act of devotion. He is at the top of the composition, where his humble tending makes shelter covering the rest of us.

I also had this quote by G.K. Chesterton in mind: “The most extraordinary thing in the world is an ordinary man and an ordinary woman and their ordinary children.”
